Standard Oil Company of California (SOCAL) traces its origins to Pico Canyon in the 1870s and was still producing in Pico Canyon when these samples were manufactured. Read the story here.

At the time, "Chevron" was a trademark of Standard Oil. Later, "Standard Oil" would become a trademark of Chevron USA Inc.
