Standard Oil Company of California: Chevron industrial lubricants. Salesman's samples, 1960-1962. Three (3) glass bottles with cork stoppers. Each 6⅜" h., 1⅜" d.

Standard Oil Company of California (SOCAL) traces its origins to Pico Canyon in the 1870s and was still producing in Pico Canyon when these samples were manufactured. Read the story here.

At the time, "Chevron" was a trademark of Standard Oil. Later, "Standard Oil" would become a trademark of Chevron USA Inc.

(1) Chevron Soluble Oil, mfg. June 27, 1960. A machine shop and cutting tool fluid.

(2) Chevron Cutting Oil TNC, mfg. July 31, 1962. A metalworking fluid for use in machining operations.

(3) Chevron Industrial Oil 55X, mfg. July 31, 1962. A high performance cylinder lubricant for slow-speed engines with high mechanical and thermal loads.
