Swiss Travel Trunk

Wooden trunk brought over from Switzerland by Acton homesteader George Blum Sr. (1861-1932) when he came to the United States (initially to Chicago). Tongue-and-groove construction, hand-forged ironwork. The bottom deteriorated over time and no longer exists.

Blum was a stonemason; perhaps this trunk contained his masonry tools.

Trunk obtained February 9, 2018, from Blum's granddaughter, Elizabeth (Blum) Billet, by her friend and neighbor Paulette Tcherkassky. Elizabeth (b. 1935) had recently sold the Blum Ranch at 31880 Aliso Canyon Road and was beginning to distribute her belongings. She continued to live at the ranch while the new owners set up their ranching operations, until her death in November 2019.

The trunk is kept at Paulette and Michael Tcherkassky's ranch in Acton (as of 2020).
