Ignacio Jesus Perez
Ignacio was born in Cuba to Fidel Perez and Leonila Robaina. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Carmen Perez, and his children, Juan Jesus Perez (Laura Monteverde Perez), Loretta Perez Garcia (Bob Garcia) and Eduardo Perez (Dorinda Perez), grandchildren, Laura Cater Phillips, Jennifer Cisneros, Lissa Miller, Bobby Garcia, Danny Perez and Taryn Perez. His great grand children, Nathan Cater, Stephanie Meinardus, Bianca Cisneros, Alexis Miller, Abigail Cisneros, Kaycee Miller, James Miller Jr., Violeta Garcia Gonzalez and Tristan Perez. His great, great grandchildren Lincoln Cater and Luke and Boyd Meinardus as well as many, many family members near and far. Ignacio came to the United States in 1956. living in Florida for a few years before setting up roots in Glendale, California where he worked a variety of jobs learning English by watching TV and reading the newspapers until his retirement in 1986. After retirement and moving to Santa Clarita, he spend a few years volunteering at Glendale Memorial Hospital and training student volunteers as well as interpreting for Spanish speaking patients and guests. In his later years, he worked as a crossing guard and volunteered at Highlands Elementary where he was known and loved by all as "Grampa." He left Highlands and joined his daughter and younger son working at Havana Hut (family deli) where he was the official box assembler and food taster. In the last 12 years of his life, spent his retirement days watching the Lakers and Dodgers, winning big with his scratchers and lotto tickets and bragging about his family. Ignacio was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and loved by many near and far. His work and moral ethics were unmatched. His love and pride for his family although not expressed verbally was apparent in his many actions and conversations with others. Ignacio passed at home surrounded by his family. The memories of his long life will last forever in the hearts and memories of his friends and family.
Ignacio Perez nació en Cuba, sus padres fueron Fidel Perez and Leonila Robaina. Le sobreviven su esposa de 73 años Carmen Perez y sus hijos, Juan Jesus Perez (Laura Monteverde Perez), Loretta Perez Garcia (Bob Garcia) y Eduardo Perez (Dorinda Perez), Sus Nietos — Laura Cater Phillips, Jennifer Cisneros, Lissa Miller, Bobby Garcia, Danny Perez and Taryn Perez. Sus Biznietos — Nathan Cater, Stephanie Meinardus, Bianca Cisneros, Alexis Miller, Abigail Cisneros, Kaycee Miller, James Miller Jr., Violeta Garcia Gonzalez y Tristan Perez. Sus Tataranietos — Lincoln Cater, Luke and Boyd Meinardus igual que muchos familiares cercanos y lejanos. Ignacio vino a los Estados Unidos en 1956. Viviendo primero en la Florida por unos años, y despues en Glendale California donde trabajo en varios puestos, aprendiendo el Inglés a través de la televisión y el periódico hasta su retiro en 1986. Después de su retiro se mudó a Santa Clarita y estuvo varios años de voluntario en el hospital Glendale Memorial entrenando a los estudiantes y de interprete para los pacientes y familiares. También estuvo de ayudante en la escuela Highlands donde era muy querido y conocido como "Grampa." Dejo la escuela para trabajar con su hija y hijo menor en el restaurante de ambos, Havana Hut donde estaba a cargo de hacer cajas y probar toda la comida. Sus últimos 12 años los paso disfrutando de sus equipos, Lakers y Dodgers y ganando mucho con sus raspaditos y lotto en compañia de su familia. Ignacio fue un increíble esposo, padre y abuelo, era querido por todos aun lejanos o cercanos. Su principios morales y de trabajo eran únicos. Su amor y orgullo por su familia (aunque no lo decía), era desmostrado por sus acciones y conversaciones. Fallecio en su casa rodeado de su familia. Los recuerdos de su larga vida estaran por siempre en nuestros corazones y en la memoria de sus amistades y familia.
