R.E. Nickel Photo

George Campton's General Merchandise and dry goods store on Railroad Avenue in about 1890. Photo by Acton pioneer Richard E. Nickel. Photographic print mounted on boudoir card, overall 5.25x8.5 inches.

This is the third version of Campton's store; this is how it appeared between the time it blew up in 1882 and the time it blew up again in 1891. They weren't too good at storing ammo.

Today (2014) the location is roughly the same as Abe's Pawn Shop at 24336 Main Street. (Campton's store went through from Railroad Avenue to Main Street, then called Spruce, and faced Railroad. Abe's property also goes through but faces Main.)
