Apparently owned by the same company, J's took over the former Tip's Coffee Shop at the Saugus off-ramp from Highway 99 (which became the Magic Mountain Parkway exit from Interstate 5), while its sister Castaic Junction Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge took over the former Tip's Restaurant at the southwest corner of Highway 126 and Interstate 5.

The coffee shop was J's when it was the location of the 1970 Newhall Incident.

While the coffee shop location could be considered Saugus, Newhall or Castaic, by 1976 it was called Valencia because it's included in The Newhall Land and Farming Co.'s Valencia Master Plan. By 1976, the Valencia theme park of Magic Mountain had opened behind it on the west.

As indicated, J's Coffee Shop was a chain with locations in Bakersfield, Selma, Modesto, Atwater, Valencia, Lost Hills, Kettleman City and Delano.

In addition to the Castaic Junction Restaurant, other affiliates included a Farmer John's Pancake House in Bakersfield, Jose's Mexican Food in Bakersfield and Country Kitchen in Bakersfield.

Today (2015) J's Coffee Shop at Castaic Junction is a Marie Callendar Family Restaurant; the Castaic Junction Restaurant location became the Blue Moon restaurant and then a nightclub with pole dancing. Newhall Land terminated the nightclub operator's lease and bulldozed the building.
