Centennial is one of three large housing communities planned for the Tejon Ranch in northwestern Los Angeles County and southern Kern County. The Centennial project is planned for up to 19,333 homes at Quail Lake (L.A. County); Tejon Mountain Village is approved for 3,450 homes at Lebec (Kern County); and Grapevine at Tejon Ranch is envisioned as a 12,000-home community (combination of single-family homes and multifamily units) in Kern County.

Centennial is a proposal for a new planned community located in the upper northwest corner of the unincorporated Los Angeles County, approximately one mile east of Interstate 5 along Highway 138. Centennial and its developer, Tejon Ranch Companies, propose 19,333 new residences, approximately 8.4 million square feet of commercial and industrial space, new schools, parks, fire stations and a sheriff's station on the 12,323 acre (19.3 square mile) site. The site, bisected by the California Aqueduct, is currently undeveloped, containing some grazing and crop lands. Centennial, originally proposed to the County in 2002, is still in its preliminary stages and has not yet received any approvals or entitlements. County planning staff is currently reviewing the project's draft Specific Plan and administrative draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
